Teak relief panel, 'Musician from Burma'

Hypnotic rhythms come from the wa lethoke (clappers), a favorite percussion instrument in rural Burmese musical ensembles. Working in teakwood, Nittaya Cherdchu sculpts the cheerful musician in a floral bower. She faithfully reproduces his dress and pose, infusing any setting with the beauty of Southeast Asian tradition.
